I Need to Learn Greek for My Upcoming Trip to Greece
0 Comments | Posted by admin in Language
I am obsessed with Greek culture and mythology. It has been a life-long dream of mine to visit Greece, and now I am about to make it happen. I will be spending the whole summer in Greece this year. I plan to visit Attica, Crete and the Greek Islands. Some of the top destinations on my itinerary include the Acropolis of Athens, Olympia, Cave of the Apocalypse and Mount Olympus. Oh and I cannot wait to enjoy some authentic Greek cuisine, such as moussaka, bougatsa and stifado. I hear dining out is a favorite pastime for Grecians, so I hope to meet and make many new friends during my stay. However, before I get too excited I need to learn greek. I know some Greek words due to being a Grecophile, but my conversation skills are pretty much non-existent. Knowing the language will make my experience much more rewarding. Plus I’ll get to impress not only my friends, but also the locals with my understanding of the language.

When I was looking around for the very best Spanish tutors London had to offer, I had the best intentions in mind. You see, one of my kids was having serious trouble in Spanish class, so I figured I would get her a tutor to make things a bit easier. Some of my friends think that I’m spoiling her a little bit, but I would really beg to differ. I just want to see her do well in school, and I’m not willing to spare any expenses when it comes to that. Fortunately, too, I managed to find a tutor who wasn’t actually going to cost us an arm and a leg. We agreed that she would come over three times a week, and that’s only going to run us a little over sixty dollars. If you ask me, that’s well worth paying, especially when you consider that my daughter actually wants to do well and learn some Spanish.
There is some very good news to anyone who wants to learn Spanish. Unless you have some purely academic reason for learning the language, you will most likely be very happy if you were able to simply to hold an intelligent conversation with a Spaniard. In other words, you would want little more than to speak to and understand the average man on the street in Spain or any other Spanish speaking country. If that is your goal then there is a little secret that will make your job a lot easier. In everyday conversation we rarely use more than about a hundred words. If you learn just those one hundred words and how to use them, you will be well on your way to holding a conversation with a native Spanish speaker. The joy and motivation that will come from your quick success will spur you onto a more thorough learning of the language.
